Marta Kalousová graduated at the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague and is professor of medical chemistry and biochemistry at the Institute of Medical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine of the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and General University Hospital in Prague. She is specialist in clinical biochemistry, European Specialist in Laboratory Medicine (EuSpLM) and specialist in internal medicine-nephrology. Her main areas of interest include testing of new biochemical and molecular genetic biomarkers and their clinical significance, especially markers related to cardiovascular risk in patients with chronic kidney diseases, pregnancy proteins, tumour markers and advanced glycation end-products and oxidative stress. She is author of more than 120 scientific papers. She is Editor in Chief of Klinická biochemie a metabolismus, the official journal of the Czech Society of Clinical Biochemistry, and member of the editorial board of Kidney and Blood Pressure Research and Journal of Renal Nutrition.
