Welcome

European scientists from both hospital or university laboratories and from companies involved in the development of tumour marker tests, have been working together for several years in an informal group originating from the "Hamburg Symposia". The European Group on Tumour Markers was formally established at a meeting on the 15th and 16th of February, 1997, in conjunction with the 6th International Symposium on Tumour Markers in Barcelona (Spain).

Fifteen Focus Groups on different types of cancer were formed and members of the EGTM joined those most relevant to their interest and expertise. The first results of the activity of these Focus Groups have been published in Anticancer Research (1999;19:2785-2820) and are presented below in the detailed Tumor Marker recommendations with permission of the publisher. They are heralded by overview charts presented by the EGTM at the 10th Hamburg Symposium on Tumor Markers in december 1999. The Constitution and Bye-Laws as presented below are approved by the General Assembly held on September  16th, 2007, in Prague, Czech Republik.
